Yes, the internet is a magical place filled with endless information. But it can also be a pretty confusing place too. Sometimes the internet surfing leaves us more questions than answers. That is why this weeks blog highlights some of our favourite internet resources on food waste reduction and recycling.
Love Food Hate Waste is an amazing resource from the WRAP UK (Waste and Resource Action Programme). Their latest campaign is called COMPLEAT IT! The campaign is all about eating the whole ingredient and not letting any edible parts of food go to waste. WRAP also have some fantastic visuals which put the glamour into food waste reduction.
I can’t speak highly enough about the amazing work from our friends at Stop Food Waste. It is the go-to resource if you are looking for tips on how to preserve and store food to prevent any unnecessary waste and save money. They also provide some inspirational ideas on what do to with yesterday’s pasta and other leftovers.
The Stop Food Waste composting resource is perfect if you’re looking to start your own home compost. Their handy little booklet offers a summary on the different types of composting systems available on the market.
I’ve been following the Zero Waste Chef blog for over a year. You might remember I posted her zero waste mouth wash recipe (for which I am a complete convert). Her die hard attitude towards zero waste cooking might seem extreme and unaccessible to us mere mortals. But I think its rather aspirational. We might not be able to go zero waste but learning from those who do can definitely help us to make some small changes around the kitchen.
At last the regional offices in Ireland have come together to make one single comprehensive resource on waste and recycling. They have also created a little map that highlights all areas that are entitled to a brown bin service. Handy if don’t currently have access to a brown bin and you want to find out if you’re eligible for one.
Here at Obeo we believe that reducing food waste is just as important as recycling food waste. Our website shares some top tips on how to prevent avoidable food waste in the home while also giving some clear guidelines on what can and can’t go into your brown bin. We also offer a range of 100% compostable kitchen accessories perfect for home composting or the brown bin.
Happy recycling everyone!
