To mark the beginning of a very exciting collaboration between DropChef and Obeo. Our friends very kindly send us a box of their 3 dinner family plan with a half bottle of vino to boot. For those of you who don’t know, DropChef are an Irish company that takes the hassle and stress out of eating healthy. How do they do this? Quite simply they provide you with everything you need to make 3 healthy, tasty meals along with a step by step menu card.
Meal One – Oven baked cod with dill and sesame seeds served with baby potatoes and courgette.
Sunday afternoon and myself and my family were driving back up to Dublin after a weekend in Wexford. Just as I was having one of those ‘Urgh, what the hell are we going to do for dinner’ I received a delivery confirmation text from DropChef. Dinner was sorted. Within forty minutes of returning home all the family were fed and happy. No trip to the supermarket, no long and complicated instructions just clean plates and happy kids. Crisis averted.
Meal Two – Chicken pad Thai noodles with fresh lime and peanuts.
Like most families we all have our different tastes. I’m a pescatarian and my son doesn’t like anything with too many strong flavours. But the one thing we all have in common is a big appetite. Luckily, I was able to make 3 versions of this dinner to keep everyone happy and the portion sizes were spot on. My son and daughter had egg noodles with chicken. I had the pad Thai without the chicken and my husband had the full works. It was zingy and delicious and the sprinkling of fresh coriander was the finishing touch to a great dinner.
Meal Three – Tagliatelle with roast tomato sauce, pan-fried halloumi and clementine side salad.
Friday evening, kids in bed, glass of wine and a quick-to-prepare yet absolutely delicious dinner. What can I say other than ‘thank you DropChef’!
DropChef delivers on all its promises; quick, delicious dinners dropped to your doorstep. If want to eat well and save time then DropChef might just be for you.
A Note About the Packaging
I couldn’t write this blog without mentioning the packaging. There is no doubt but DropChef is a convenience services and with any convenience foods comes packaging. I was impressed that they there was an obvious effort to reduce packaging as much as possible. All the veg came in paper bags. I was able to clean and reuse the plastic bags and tubs. The meat came in a aluminium pouch with a cool bag. Ideally they need to come up with a return service for these items or a compostable alternative.
